The Domestic Solid Waste Management Centre (DSWMC) is an integrated Municipal Solid waste treatment centre with a capacity of 2,000 tonnes per day. The site treats mainly domestic waste by means of Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) which recovers some waste as recyclables then treats the remaining either by Anaerobic Digestion followed by composting or by incineration.
The Domestic Solid Waste Management Centre (DSWMC) is located approximately 33 km south of the centre of Doha within the Al Wakrah Municipality. The site covers an area of 300 Ha and is rectangular in shape. It was designed and constructed under an EPC contract signed in October 2006 with Keppel Seghers from Singapore. After the construction, Keppel Seghers was appointed as the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) contractor. The O&M contract started in October 2011, and the operations began in December 2011. The contract is valid for 20 years and terminates in October 2031.

During the visit to the DSWMC, all visitors will remain inside the bus as they will enjoy a tour around the facility accompanied by an explanation of the process’s distinct stages.
